DOE Issues Finding of No Significant Impact for Cove Point LNG Exports
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact related to the effect on the human environment resulting from LNG exports from the proposed Dominion Cove Point LNG (DCP) terminal in Lusby, Md. The Finding states that based on (1) FERC’s environmental assessment prepared for the project; (2) DOE’s addendum on the environmental effects of gas exports, and (3) FERC’s order approving the project subject to conditions to protect the environment, DOE has determined that granting LNG export authority to DCP “will not have a significant effect on the human environment,” and the preparation of an environmental impact statement for the project is not required. The Finding can be found here, and the complete docket for DCP’s DOE authority to export LNG to nations without a Free Trade Agreement with the United States can be found on DOE’s website.
