DOE Grants Freeport LNG Final Non-FTA Export Authorizations
Today, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued two final orders authorizing Freeport LNG and its affiliates to export a total 657 Bcf/yr of LNG to nations without a Free Trade Agreement with the United States. DOE had previously issued orders authorizing such exports subject to satisfactory completion of environmental review for the proposal. The final orders considered the environmental aspects of the proposed LNG exports and concludes that they have not been shown to be inconsistent with the public interest and, therefore, final authorization is granted for the proposed exports of domestically produced LNG from the Freeport Terminal. The orders can be found here and here.
