FERC Approves Freeport LNG Export Terminal Project
FERC issued an order yesterday approving an application filed by Freeport LNG Development and certain affiliates to construct LNG export terminal facilities, interconnected pipeline facilities, and related modifications to Freeport’s existing LNG import terminal near Freeport, Texas. This is the third LNG export facility FERC has approved, following approvals of the Sabine Pass LNG and Cameron LNG projects.
FERC staff also released a draft General Conformity Determination (GCD) which assesses the potential air quality impacts associated with the construction and operation of the Freeport LNG project and concluded that the project will achieve conformity in Texas and has received concurrence from the Texas Council on Environmental Quality. Comments on the GCD are due August 29, 2014. The entire docket for the Freeport LNG export application can be found on eLibrary under Docket Nos. CP12-509 and CP12-29.
