House to Vote on Amended LNG Export Bill Next Week
Early next week, the House of Representative is expected to vote on H.R. 6, a bill that intends to expedite U.S. LNG exports to World Trade Organization countries. Rep. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) announced an amendment that he and Rep. Gene Green (D-Tex.) have proposed, which would require the US Department of Energy to issue a final decision on any application to export natural gas 30 days after completing a National Environmental Policy Act review. The amendment is intended to give companies and investors greater certainty as they plan to build LNG export facilities.
