FERC Releases Environmental Reports for Dominion Cove Point LNG and Downeast LNG Projects
FERC has released an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Dominion Cove Point LNG export project to be located at Lusby, Md. The EA concludes that if the project is constructed and operated as proposed, with appropriate mitigation measures, project approval would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment. The EA includes a draft General Conformity Determination that assesses the potential air quality impacts related to the proposed project. Comments to the EA are due June 16, 2014. The EA can be found here, and the complete docket for the project can be found on eLibrary under Docket No. CP13-113.
FERC also released a Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the proposed Downeast LNG import terminal and interconnected pipeline in Washington County, Maine. The FEIS concludes that while construction and operation of the project would result in some adverse environmental impacts, most of these impacts would be reduced to less-than-significant levels with the implementation of Downeast’s proposed mitigation measures and the additional measures recommended in the FEIS. The Executive Summary of the FEIS can be found here, and the complete FEIS and docket for the project can be found on eLibrary under Docket No. CP07-52.
