DOE Conditionally Approves Cameron LNG Exports to Non-FTA Nations
Today, the U.S. Department of Energy issued an order approving Cameron LNG’s application to export 1.7 Bcf/day (approximately 12 million metric tons/year) of LNG over a 20-year period from the proposed Cameron LNG export terminal (“Cameron Terminal”) in Hackberry (Cameron Parish), La. DOE’s approval is conditioned on Cameron LNG’s satisfactory completion of the FERC environmental review process and its ongoing compliance with any and all preventative and mitigating measures imposed at the Cameron Terminal by federal or state agencies. In approving the proposal, DOE ruled that opponents have not demonstrated it will be inconsistent with the public interest and found that it is likely to yield net economic benefits to the United States. DOE’s order can be found here, and the complete docket for the Cameron LNG application can be found on DOE’s website. Read more in the press release.
