B.C. First Nations Seek Ownership Shares in Proposed LNG Export Terminals
The Globe and Mail reports that British Columbia (B.C.) First Nations have been seeking loan guarantees that would enable them to acquire ownership interests in proposed B.C. LNG export terminals. The article quotes Dave Porter, chief executive of British Columbia First Nations Energy and Mining Council, as stating that while there is an opportunity for industry to partner with First Nations, “[w]hat is absolutely clear is that unless First Nations are included as full partners in development, the prospects for projects proceeding are negligible.”
