Industrial Group Criticizes DOE LNG Export License Revocation Policy
The Industrial Energy Consumers of America (IECA), a nonpartisan association of leading manufacturing companies, submitted a letter to U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Moniz critical of DOE’s recent statement in a letter to Senators Wyden and Murkowski that it would only revoke an LNG export license in the most extraordinary circumstances and that DOE would not use it revocation authority as a price maintenance mechanism. IECA stated that the policy was “anti-manufacturing” and “a detriment to new manufacturing capital investment and jobs.” IECA called on DOE to implement a rulemaking to establish new legal standards for gas exports and a new export policy “that provides at least equal assurances to the manufacturing sector that their capital investments are just as valuable to the U.S. as LNG export facilities.”
