America’s Energy Advantage Claims DOE Approval of LNG Exports Has Pushed the U.S. into a Danger Zone
America’s Energy Advantage (AEA) sent a letter to U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Moniz stating that DOE’s recent approval of LNG exports to nations without a Free Trade Agreement with the United States “has pushed the United States into a danger zone that will increase prices for consumers and harm manufacturers, negatively impacting investment and job creation.” The letter states that DOE’s orders were not based on legal standards “as to when export applications and rescission of export authorizations are in the public interest.” AEA requests that DOE suspend disposition of pending LNG export applications until adequate standards are developed to assess whether further approvals are in the public interest.
