Sierra Club Criticizes DOE Approval of Dominion Cove Point LNG Exports
Sierra Club released a statement criticizing yesterday’s U.S. Department of Energy order conditionally permitting Dominion Cove Point to export LNG from its proposed terminal at Lusby, Md. Sierra Club claims that “[e]xporting LNG to foreign buyers will lock us into decades-long contracts, which in turn will lead to more drilling — and that means more fracking, more air and water pollution, and more climate-fueled weather disasters like record fires, droughts, and superstorms like last year’s Sandy.”
