DOE Grants Sabine Pass Additional LNG FTA-only Export Authorization
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued two orders approving Sabine Pass Liquefaction’s (SPL) applications to export additional domestically produced LNG volumes from its LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, La., to nations having a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States. In Order No. 3306, DOE authorized SPL to export 101 Bcf per year over a 20-year term pursuant to an agreement with SPL as the seller and Total Gas & Power North America, Inc. as buyer. In Order No. 3307, DOE authorized SPL to export 88.3 Bcf per year over a 20-year term pursuant to an agreement with SPL as the seller and Centrica plc as buyer. In both cases, SPL also sought authorization to export those volumes to nations without an FTA with the United States. DOE stated at it will address those requests in separate orders. The complete dockets for both cases can be found on DOE’s website.
