Comments were filed at FERC by the Governor of Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) in support of the proposed Aguirre Offshore GasPort Project along the southern shore of Puerto Rico. The comments state that the Project will create jobs, reduce electricity costs, help Puerto Rico meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s new Mercury and Air Toxics Standard for hazardous air pollutants, and reduce barge traffic in the Jobos Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
