Senator Murkowski Discusses Alaska LNG Supplies with Japanese Prime Minister
Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski (R) met with Japanese Prime Minister Abe and other Japanese officials last week touting the benefits of Alaskan LNG supplies to Japan. According to the press release, Murkowski stated that “Alaska is uniquely situated to supply Japan’s energy needs” since “[b]etween Alaska and Japan there are no chokepoints, no pirates, no third nations with territorial claims – only wide open water.” Murkowski also noted that “[s]ecuring a long-term export contract with Japan would provide the financial support needed to build a multi-billion dollar pipeline and liquefaction project in Alaska.”
