Asian LNG Importers Seek Change in LNG Pricing
Reuters reports that Asian nations that import large quantities of LNG want to overhaul the current natural gas pricing structure that links gas prices to oil in favor of hub pricing, which would lower the costs of LNG imported to Asia. LNG producers acknowledged the issue at a conference in Tokyo this week, with Charif Souki, chairman and chief executive officer of Cheniere Energy Inc., quoted as stating, “There will have to be a hub developed in Asia like in the U.S. and Europe.”
