Congressmen Call on President Obama for Rules to Evaluate Proposed Energy Exports
Representative Edward Markey (D-Mass.) and Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) sent a letter to President Obama yesterday calling on the President to use his existing authority under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975 to adopt rules to evaluate proposed exports of the nation’s energy resources. The letter offers a list of considerations for determining whether exports are in the national interest: national security, energy security, economic impacts, and environmental impacts.
