Alaska Official: State Not Responsible for Marketing North Slope Gas to Potential LNG Customers
Commissioner Dan Sullivan of Alaska’s Department of Natural Resources told the Alaska Dispatch yesterday that he views marketing the state’s natural gas to potential overseas buyers of LNG as the responsibility of major North Slope companies, not the state. Sullivan noted, however, that state officials have had discussions with Japan’s Mitsubishi regarding the company’s interest in switching from nuclear to LNG for its energy needs and that his department would “take all meetings” with those interested in Alaska’s natural gas.
