Weaver’s Cove Energy Responds to Senators’ Efforts to Block LNG Project Approval
The CEO of Weaver’s Cove Energy, Gordon Shearer, has submitted a letter to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development encouraging lawmakers to allow the federal permitting process for the proposed Weaver’s Cove LNG terminal to continue. Earlier this month, the U.S. Senators from Massachusetts and Rhode Island asked their colleagues on the Subcommittee to prevent federal agencies from using federal funds to continue evaluating the project. Separately, the Herald News (Fall River, Mass.) reports that the Fall River City Council has decided to allow members of the LNG Working Group, a Rhode Island group opposed to the Weaver’s Cove LNG project, to present their views to the City Council.
