As Liberty LNG Moves Forward, ExxonMobil Suspends Efforts on BlueOcean LNG Deepwater Port Project
Platts LNG Daily [subscription required] reports that ExxonMobil has suspended its development of the BlueOcean LNG deepwater port project proposed for offshore New Jersey. A company spokesperson cited regional market conditions as the reason for ExxonMobil’s decision.
In the same news article, Roger Whelan, president of the Liberty LNG deepwater port project, said that he expects his project to move forward because he believes that LNG imports will help alleviate gas pipeline bottlenecking concerns in the Mid-Atlantic region. Bob Martin, New Jersey’s environmental protection commissioner, disagrees, telling NewJerseyNewsroom.com that he does not believe LNG is needed in New Jersey.
