The Telegraph-Journal reports that on November 18, 2010, the owners of the parcel of property selected for the Calais LNG import terminal notified the Maine Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) that Calais LNG elected not to renew its option to extend the purchase agreement for the property. According to the news article, the property owners have asserted that any right or interest that Calais LNG had in the project site expired on September 1, 2010. As a result, the BEP is requiring that Calais LNG demonstrate to the BEP no later than tomorrow, November 24, why the BEP should continue processing the LNG terminal application.
