U.S. DOE Approves Sabine Pass LNG’s Request to Export Domestic Natural Gas
Last week the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) approved an application filed by Sabine Pass Liquefaction, LLC to export LNG produced from domestic natural gas. The export proposal contemplates exporting up to 16 million metric tons per annum to countries with which the United States has a free trade agreement and that have not barred LNG vessels. The Wall Street Journal offers further coverage.
In a related matter, last week Sabine Pass LNG submitted a second LNG export application to DOE, this time focusing on countries with which the United States does not currently have free trade agreements.
