Louisiana Senator Expresses Support for Cheniere’s LNG Export Proposal
Senator Mary Landrieu (D-La.) issued a statement last week expressing her support for Cheniere Energy’s proposal to liquefy domestic natural gas and export it as LNG from the Sabine Pass LNG facility. Senator Landrieu noted that the Haynesville Shale play, located in northwest Louisiana, could provide significant natural gas supplies to “allow the U.S. to become a major exporter of natural gas.”
Separately, Credit Suisse released an analyst’s report on Cheniere’s liquefaction and LNG export proposal and concluded that based on market conditions, Cheniere’s efforts to engage in global gas arbitrage “make[] sense today.” Read more in the Wall Street Journal.
