A number of Canadian officials reiterated the Harper Government’s opposition to LNG tanker traffic through Canadian waters of the Head Harbour Passage. These statements came following a decision by Maine lawmakers to end a moratorium on new energy corridors between Maine and New Brunswick. The Kennebec Journal offers further coverage.
Separately, Mayor John Craig of St. Andrews, New Brunswick, said in a letter to Maine Gov. John Baldacci that New Brunswick security personnel do not have the resources nor training to respond to an LNG incident in Canadian waters. The Telegraph-Journal provides additional details.
