Former Alaskan Senator Advocating Export of North Slope Gas to Asia
Revising his previous position on a natural gas pipeline that would transport gas from Alaska’s North Slope through Canada to markets in the lower 48 states, former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens is now advocating for North Slope gas to be piped to Kenai or Valdez on the Alaskan Pacific coast and exported to Asia as LNG. As reported by the Anchorage Daily News, Stevens no longer believes that there will be enough demand for Alaskan gas in the lower 48 states as shale gas production is expected to increase in the coming years.
