John Hattenberger, president of Gazprom Marketing & Trading USA Inc., told Bloomberg this week that Gazprom may ship as much as 80-90% of the gas produced from the Shtokman project to North America as LNG. Hattenberger said that the company hopes to conclude 20-year contracts to access regasification capacity at U.S. East and Gulf Coast LNG terminals in the first half of next year. Hattenberger also noted that contracts for regasification capacity must be completed before the company makes its final investment decision on the Shtokman project.
