New Brunswick Premier Reiterates Province’s Opposition to LNG Terminals in Passamaquoddy Bay
New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham reiterates his government’s opposition to LNG projects sited in Passamaquoddy Bay in an op-ed published by the Telegraph-Journal. In the op-ed, the Premier affirms his “sovereign and legal duty to ensure that the interests and concerns of our residents are taken into account and defended by all appropriate means as these [LNG] projects move through all regulatory processes.” The Premier also says that the Government of Canada alone has jurisdiction over Canadian internal waterways and notes that FERC has recognized its own limitations in regard to the issue of vessel transit through Canadian waters.
