Consultant: LNG to Compete with Marcellus Shale for Share of Gas Market in U.S. Northeast
Deepa Poduval, an energy consultant with Black and Veatch, said yesterday that she expects LNG imports via terminals on the U.S. East Coast to compete with natural gas production from the Marcellus Shale formation for market share in the U.S. Northeast in the coming years. According to Platts LNG Daily [subscription required], Poduval said that LNG will remain a key destination for global oversupply, but that shale gas will provide significant competition for the Northeast market.
