Uncertain Future of Kenai LNG Facility Affects Local Utilities and Customers
An analysis published by the Alaska Journal of Commerce examines the uncertain future of the Kenai LNG liquefaction facility. The Kenai LNG terminal exports LNG to Japan and also serves as a back-up supplier of natural gas to local utilities. If facility owners and operators Marathon Oil and ConocoPhillips decide not to renew their LNG export license in 2011, the facility could still be used for natural gas processing and storage.
