Oregon LNG Files Suit Against Port of Astoria
On July 22, 2009, Oregon LNG filed suit in U.S. District Court against the Port of Astoria. According to Oregon LNG CEO Peter Hansen, the lawsuit is a precautionary measure intended to protect his company’s investment in the 96-acre site planned for development if the Port decides not to renew the state lease next month. The Port Commission signed a pass through lease agreement in 2004 with the state of Oregon and Calpine Corporation, now Oregon LNG. In April 2009, Oregon LNG renewed its sublease with the Port for a 30-year term; however, the Port has yet to renew the underlying lease of state land. Read more in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
