The Bangor Daily News reports that earlier this week the Passamaquoddy Tribe informed Quoddy Bay LNG that the tribe has voted to terminate a lease for land to be used to develop an LNG import facility. Tribal Councilor Ed Bassett told the Daily News that language in the lease stated that either party could terminate the lease. President of Quoddy Bay LNG Donald Smith raised questions as to whether the Passamaquoddy Tribe had the authority to cancel the contract.
