Connecticut Governor Critical of Plan to Expand FERC’s Infrastructure Siting Authority

Citing the state’s unsuccessful efforts to persuade FERC to grant it a “seat at the table” for discussions regarding the Broadwater LNG import proposal, Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell (R) has announced her opposition to legislation under consideration in the U.S. Senate that would expand FERC’s energy infrastructure siting authority. Governor Rell told NorwalkPlus.com that she wrote to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and members of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources to oppose strongly the proposed language expanding FERC’s siting authority in an energy bill designed to encourage construction of an enhanced electricity transmission grid.
