AES Sparrows Point LNG Delays Required Surveys of Rare Plants and Animals Until Summer
AES Corp. has announced that it will delay required surveys of rare, threatened, and endangered plant and animal species until summer when more animals are active and plants are in bloom. The surveys are required for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) review of the Sparrows Point LNG import terminal project. A spokesperson for AES told the Baltimore Sun that USACE will hold the project application in abeyance until the surveys are complete and that the delay will have little effect on the overall schedule for the project.
