Newsday (carried via Energy Central) (subscription required) reports that opponents of the Safe Harbor LNG terminal project proposed for construction south of Long Island and east of the New Jersey shore held a news conference yesterday to argue that the project would increase reliance on foreign fossil fuels and harm the local environment. The story also notes that the U.S. Coast Guard and Maritime Administration, which must still approve the project, will hold a hearing open to the public tonight.
