Consultant: North American LNG Imports to Increase 147% by 2014

Wood Mackenzie’s North American LNG analyst Murray Douglas said yesterday that he expects North American LNG imports to increase 147% by 2014, from 1.7 Bcf/d in 2009 to 4.2 Bcf/d. According to Platts LNG Daily, Douglas noted that a “significant proportion” of LNG from new liquefaction capacity is likely to come to the U.S. market and compete with shale gas for market share.
