Weaver’s Cove Energy to Continue Examining Feasibility of Offshore Unloading Proposal
Weaver’s Cove Energy President Ted Gehrig met with the Somerset, Mass., Conservation Commission to answer questions regarding the company’s investigation of the proposed site for offshore unloading of LNG in Mount Hope Bay after the Commission issued a cease-and-desist order for the company’s testing activities. According to Gehrig, the company is drilling borings into the bedrock below the bay to ascertain “how competent that bedrock is.” Gehrig also said that the company is measuring the size and density of the quahog population and what effects, if any, dredging operations would have on marine plant and animal life. The order was lifted last week after Weaver’s Cove issued a briefing paper on its activities. The Providence Journal offers additional information.
