Efforts Suspended to Declare Part of the Taunton River “Wild and Scenic”
Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) has suspended his efforts to pass legislation that would declare part of the Taunton River in Massachusetts as “wild and scenic” and potentially prevent the construction of the proposed Weaver’s Cove LNG import terminal. The Boston Herald reports that Rep. Frank made this decision after Republicans in the House of Representatives “attempt[ed] to make it a national issue,” although Rep. Frank’s chief of staff said he remains confident that the legislation will pass at some point.
