Boston Globe: Halting LNG Bill Benefited Friend of Mass. House Speaker
The Boston Globe reports that Massachusetts House of Representatives Speaker Salvatore DiMasi’s (D-Suffolk) action to halt a bill designed to block the Weaver’s Cove LNG terminal in 2006 may have benefited a friend, Jay Cashman. The Globe reports that a few months after the bill died in the House, Cashman sold the land to the backers of the Weaver’s Cove LNG project at a profit of $14.2 million. Speaker DiMasi denied wrongdoing and claimed that his decision was based on public policy.
