Suggested Modifications to Weaver’s Cove LNG Project Address Some Issues, Raise Others
The Providence Journal offers an analysis of the new offshore unloading plan proposed by Weaver’s Cove LNG. The Journal reports that although the new proposal would require less dredging and avoid the use of tankers to carry the LNG up the Taunton River, community members and officials remain opposed to the project. Also, Weaver’s Cove LNG spokesperson James Grasso noted that because the proposed pipeline would use new technology to transport the natural gas as a liquid from the berthing site to the onshore storage tanks, technical studies are needed to determine whether the alternative is feasible from an engineering standpoint.
