Democratic presidential candidates Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) have both entered the debate on the federal government’s authority over the siting of LNG regasification terminals. Earlier this week, Sen. Obama announced his co-sponsorship of a bill to repeal the section of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct 2005), which codified the federal government’s exclusive authority over the siting of LNG import terminals. Senator Clinton is an original co-sponsor of the bill, which was introduced last week. The Associated Press (via the USA Today) offers an analysis of the two candidates’ positions on the issue.
