BP Considering “Other Options” to Bring LNG to Mid-Atlantic Following Supreme Court Ruling

The News Journal (Wilmington, Del.) reports that BP is considering “other options” for importing LNG to the U.S. mid-Atlantic region, although the company also may attempt to save its Crown Landing LNG terminal proposal following yesterday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision. According to the News Journal, state officials in New Jersey and Pennsylvania were not aware of any other proposed sites for an LNG terminal north of the Delaware border.

John Hughes, secretary of Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, questioned the design of the Crown Landing project, suggesting that if BP had proposed to build a new river harbor to keep the terminal’s pier wholly within New Jersey waters, Delaware likely would have approved the necessary dredging permits.
