BG Group Contemplated Proposal for Liquefaction Plant in Alaska
The Anchorage Daily News reports that David Keane, BG Group’s vice president for corporate and policy affairs, told Alaskan state legislators that his company remains optimistic about Alaska’s LNG potential. According to Keane, BG prepared a proposal for a pipeline project that included construction of a pipeline to transport gas from the North Slope to Valdez and a liquefaction facility to process the gas for export on tankers. However, ultimately BG did not file an application with Alaskan state authorities under the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act because its proposal faced a variety of risks, and also would have lacked several components required under the Act.
