U.S. House Members Cite GAO Report in Bid to Halt FERC Review of Broadwater LNG Proposal

Three congressional representatives, including Rep. Joe Courtney (D-Conn.), Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), and Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.), issued a joint statement yesterday stating that FERC ought to halt its review of the Broadwater LNG proposal. The representatives cited the recently released GAO report, which raises safety and security issues for LNG tanker transit operations, as further evidence that the Broadwater proposal should not be approved. In response, a Broadwater spokesperson claimed that the GAO report does not offer any new security information that  was  not  already addressed by the Coast Guard’s initial safety and security analysis. The Connecticut Day offers additional details.
