New York State Environmental Agency States Broadwater LNG Application “Incomplete”
On December 21, 2007, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation made public a Notice of Incomplete Application which stated that Broadwater Energy’s LNG import project could have serious environmental impacts should effective mitigation measures not be implemented. In particular, the DEC noted that the destruction of millions of fish eggs, larvae, and young fish could have a substantial impact on Long Island Sound. Additionally, the DEC noted that Broadwater’s air impact analysis and its assessment of alternative sites were “overly generic.” Read more in the Suffolk Times.
