LNG Opponents Concerned by Cargo Ship’s Engine Failure in Head Harbour Passage

A U.S. Coast Guard officer told the Bangor Daily News that early Saturday morning, a Dutch-owned cargo vessel attempted to enter the Federal Marine Terminal at Eastport, Maine, but experienced an engine failure while transiting the Head Harbour Passage. Although the cargo ship did not run aground, it did drag its anchor. A spokesman for Save Passamaquoddy Bay says it plans to discuss the incident’s implications for LNG with the Coast Guard.
