According to a report in the Bangor Daily News [carried via Energy Central Professional (subscription required)], energy consultant Art Gelber will meet with local officials to discuss the Calais LNG proposal this week. While the Calais City Council initially supported the concept of LNG, they have not endorsed Calais LNG over similar projects put forward by Quoddy Bay LNG and Downeast LNG. The news report also notes continued opposition to the proposed Maine LNG projects by the Canadian government. “The government of Canada is not allowing the LNG tankers through Head Harbor Passage,” said St. Andrews Mayor John Craig.
