Safe Harbor Energy Developers Appeal Adjacent Coastal State Status Granted to New Jersey
The Atlantic Sea Island Group, a group of investors developing the Safe Harbor Energy LNG regasification terminal, has appealed MARAD’s decision to grant adjacent coastal state status to New Jersey during the project’s regulatory approval process. According to the Aberdeen Independent (N.J.), several environmental groups have voiced opposition to this appeal. Julie Roginsky, a consultant with Atlantic Sea Island Group, told the Independent that MARAD’s decision in this case is unprecedented and that litigation in both states would delay the project and create additional costs.
