High Gas Costs Could Stall LNG Project Proposed for Alaska

Fairbanks Natural Gas, a firm that has proposed to transport LNG from Port MacKenzie, Alaska, to Fairbanks via tanker trucks, told the Alaska Journal that the current structure of pegging wellhead gas prices to oil prices, in addition to the state’s Petroleum Production Tax (PPT), would make the project economically unviable. The company is asking state officials to implement an alternative tax structure.
