Following Consultants’ Report, Canada Maintains Opposition to LNG Traffic in Head Harbour Passage

The Globe and Mail reports that the Canadian Government will continue its opposition to the proposed LNG vessel route through Head Harbour Passage following the release of an independent assessment of the proposed vessel route. New Brunswick representative and Canadian Veterans Affairs Minister Greg Thompson said that Canada will oppose all LNG tanker traffic in the Head Harbour Passage, calling the proposed site “not a safe location,” and went on to say that the Canadian Government “consider[s] those internal Canadian waters so we have a responsibility to protect our citizens, protect the environment, and protect the economy.”
