NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer envisions a role for the organization in protecting LNG vessels on the high seas according to Natural Gas Week (carried via Energy Intelligence [subscription required]. Secretary de Hoop Scheffer, speaking in London earlier this month, said, “could NATO, with its maritime fleets, add value, in times of crisis, to protect them? Personally, I think so.”
