Analysts Issue 2008 Gas Price Forecasts
Platts LNG Daily reports that a Raymond James and Associates analyst has lowered his 2008 U.S. gas price projection by $3/Mcf, while raising his projection for the fourth quarter of 2007 by $1/Mcf. The analyst based his downward revision for 2008 in part on expected above average gas storage volumes and a large increase in LNG imports through the summer of 2008.
Separately, Platts also reports that an analyst with The Scotiabank Group predicted Friday that, despite an expected decline in Canadian gas exports to the United States next year, an increase in U.S. LNG imports likely will cover the supply gap and hold U.S. gas prices steady at roughly $7/MMBtu.
