Norwegian energy firm Statoil announced yesterday that its Hammerfest LNG export facility in northern Norway has received its first volumes from the Snohvit gas field and that it expects to begin production of LNG over the next three to four weeks. Much of the natural gas from Snohvit will be shipped to the United States, though plans for the terminal’s first shipment of LNG are unclear. Reuters provides additional details.
